Huskers Ranked No. 23 in WCGA Preseason Poll

The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team will open the 2025 season at No. 23 in the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Top 25.

The Huskers are coming off a trip to the NCAA Championships, where their season concluded with a third-place finish in the second round. NU ended the season with a record of 15-13 and 7-7 in the Big Ten.

Nebraska will return 16 returnees, led by First-Team All-Big Ten recipient Emma Spence and Second-Team All-Big Ten member Sophia McClelland. Spence was also selected as an alternate for Team Canada for the 2024 Olympics this summer.

The Huskers will look to showcase Lindenwood transfer and First-Team All-MIC honoree Nya Kraus. She will join her former teammate in redshirt sophomore Reese Baechle (St. Charles, Mo.).

The Huskers are one of nine Big Ten Conference teams ranked in the WCGA preseason poll, joining No. 10 UCLA, No. 11 Michigan State, No. 13 Michigan, No. 16 Ohio State, No. 18 Minnesota, No. 21 Penn State, No. 22 Illinois and No. 24 Maryland.

Oklahoma earned the No. 1 spot in the poll, while defending national champion LSU starts the season at No. 2.

Nebraska’s season will begin at the Nashville invite on Saturday, Jan. 4, against Auburn, BYU and Oklahoma.
