Four members of the Nebraska volleyball team have received Academic All-District honors, selected by College Sports Communicators.
Merritt Beason, Kennedi Orr, Bergen Reilly and Lexi Rodriguez were all selected to the Academic All-District Team. Beason, Reilly and Rodriguez were named Academic All-America finalists and are now eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced on January 14.
The CSC Academic All-District teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. To be eligible, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore athletically and academically with a 3.50 cumulative GPA or better. Requirements to earn Academic All-District for volleyball student-athletes also include competing in 90 percent of the team's matches or starting in at least 66 percent of the matches.
Rodriguez is a two-time Academic All-American and graduated last May with a degree in advertising and public relations. She is pursuing a master's degree in integrated media communication.
Beason finished her degree in human development and family science last May and is pursing a master's in applied science.
Orr completed a degree in communication studies last May and is seeking a master's degree in professional journalism.
Reilly is majoring in business and law.
The four were among 10 Huskers who earned Academic All-Big Ten honors as well this week. The others were Rebekah Allick (management), Maisie Boesiger (advertising and public relations), Laney Choboy (sports media and communication), Lindsay Krause (MA - English), Taylor Landfair (graphic design) and Harper Murray (sports media and communication).
