Nebraska Softball 2025 Schedule Preview

The Nebraska softball team has its full 2025 schedule, which consists of 51 regular-season games, including 17 at home, 15 away and 19 at neutral sites.

The Huskers will play a 22-game Big Ten schedule this year, which marks the first season that Oregon, UCLA and Washington have joined the conference. The Big Red will play three-game series against Minnesota, Purdue, Iowa, Northwestern, Washington and Maryland. NU will host Indiana for a two-game series and will play three games against Ohio State, with two counting toward  the conference standings. The Big Red will also face UCLA at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic – that game will not count toward the Big Ten standings.

NU will face off against 12 teams that qualified for the 2024 NCAA Tournament – Tennessee, Baylor, UCLA, Duke, Utah, Northwestern, Indiana, Washington, Oklahoma State, Missouri, Northern Colorado and Mississippi State.

Nebraska will open the season at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Fla., from Thursday, Feb. 6 to Sunday, Feb. 9. The Huskers will play Tennessee on Thursday, and will compete against Southern Mississippi and Bethune-Cookman on Friday. NU will face off against Texas Tech on Saturday and Mississippi State on Sunday. 

The Huskers will travel to Las Cruces, N.M., to take part in the Troy Cox Classic for the fourth straight year. The tournament will run from Friday, Feb. 14 to Sunday, Feb. 16. NU will face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and New Mexico State on Friday, Montana and Northern Colorado on Saturday and Montana on Sunday.

The Big Red will then travel to Cathedral City, Calif., for the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic from Thursday, Feb. 20 to Sunday, Feb. 23. NU will take on Baylor and UCLA on Thursday, and Duke on Friday. The Huskers will play San Jose State and Howard on Saturday, before closing out the tournament with Utah on Sunday.

NU will compete in the Wichita State Tournament from Friday, Feb. 28 to Sunday, March 2 in Wichita, Kan. The Big Red will play two games on Friday, one against South Dakota State and one against Oklahoma State. Nebraska will take on Missouri and Wichita State on Saturday, and will conclude the tournament against Missouri on Sunday. 

Nebraska hosts the Big Red Spring Fling to finish out regular-season tournament competition from Thursday, March 6 to Sunday, March 9. NU will play two games against Northern Colorado on Thursday, then face Northern Iowa on Friday and South Dakota State on Saturday, before taking on the Panthers again on Sunday.

The Huskers will open Big Ten play with a three-game series at Ohio State the weekend of March 14-16. Friday and Saturday’s games will count toward the Big Ten standings, while Sunday’s will not. 

The Big Red will host its first home conference series against Minnesota from March 21-23, before traveling to Omaha for a midweek matchup with the Mavericks on Wednesday, March 26.

The Huskers welcome Purdue on the weekend of March 29-31, then will head to Iowa City, Iowa, for a three-game series against the Hawkeyes from April 4-6. 

NU hosts Creighton on Wednesday, April 9, then will head to Evanston, Ill., to take on Northwestern on the weekend of April 12-14. Nebraska will return home for two games against Indiana on April 18 and 19, before a three-game series at Washington from April 25-27. 

The Huskers close out Big Ten play at home against Maryland from May 2-4. The 2025 Big Ten Tournament will take place from Wednesday, May 7 to Saturday, May 10 in West Lafayette, Ind.

NCAA Regionals are set for May 16-18 and Super Regionals are from May 23-25. The 2025 Women’s College World Series will be from May 29-June 5/6. The full schedule can be found here.
