Webb Leads Huskers on Opening Day at Rutgers

Frankie Webb posted a season-best 250.20 to lead Nebraska on the one-meter board at the Rutgers Diving Invitational in Piscataway, N.J., on Thursday.

Webb, a junior from Cambridge, England, led a group of five Husker divers who finished in the top 10 on the one meter on the opening day of the three-day competition at the Rutgers Aquatics Center.

Junior Kelsey Clairmont added a sixth-place finish with a 234.70, after putting up Nebraska's best score (250.95) during preliminary competition.

Jordyn Schmucker contributed an eighth-place performance in the finals with her 221.85, while Ellee Delcamp (217.10) and Nettie Knapton (215.65) rounded out the top 10 for the Big Red.

The hosts from Rutgers swept the top three spots in the finals, led by Amelia Scott (283.75) and runner-up Holly Prasanto (282.90). Madilyn Varnum completed the sweep for the Scarlet Knights (274.10).

Preliminaries
Clairmont posted a score of 250.95 to lead Nebraska in the one-meter preliminaries of the Rutgers Diving Invitational on Thursday morning.

Clairmont led a group of five Huskers who finished in the top 10. Webb added a sixth-place showing with a 244.55 on the one-meter board, while Knapton qualified for finals with an eighth-place effort in the prelims at 237.85.

Delcamp pitched in a 237.45 to qualify ninth, while Jordyn Schmucker rounded out the five Huskers in the top 10 with a 211.85.

Nebraska divers Abby Baxter and Antonina Harned did not compete for the Huskers on Thursday, as they prepare for USA Diving Winter Nationals, which begin Sunday in Bloomington, Ind.

Action at the Rutgers Diving Invitational continues on Friday with the preliminary round on the three-meter dive at 9:30 a.m. (CT). Three-meter finals are set for 3 p.m. (CT).
