Senior Calvin Mueller of Nebraska men’s tennis was tabbed for the Big Ten’s Preseason Player to Watch List. The Husker was selected for the list among 14 standout athletes from the conference programs.
Mueller is one of three returning All-Big Ten selections featured on the list, along with Ohio State’s Jack Anthrop (First Team) and Illinois’ Kenta Miyoshi (Second Team). Mueller is coming off a dominant junior season where he claimed the Big Ten Individuals Singles title in the fall, and finished with 27 singles wins. He was named Big Ten Player of the Week twice in the 2023-24 season, and ended the season ranked No. 71.
Mueller and the Huskers begin their season with a double header at home against Drake and Bellarmine on Saturday, Jan. 18. The 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. (CT) duals will open the spring campaign for the Big Red, hoping to improve on the 17-10 team record from last season, a program best since 1990.
