Huskers Ready for the American Gold Women's Collegiate Classic

The No. 23 Nebraska women’s gymnastics team is set to kick off its season at the American Gold Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Classic meet this weekend. The meet is slated to start at 5:30 p.m. (CT) on Saturday, Jan. 4. It will take place at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn.

The Big Red will face off against No. 1 Oklahoma, along with No. 17 Auburn and No. 27 BYU.

The 2025 Nebraska roster is made up of 21 total gymnasts, including 16 returners and five newcomers. NU will return First-Team All-Big Ten honoree Emma Spence and Second-Team All-Big Ten member Sophia McClelland. Spence was selected as an alternate for Team Canada for the 2024 Paris Olympics this summer.

The returners also include Katelyn Barth, Olivia Burns, Emalee Frost, Allie Gard, Genesis Gibson, Ayzhia Hall, Lauren Homecillo, Whitney Jencks, Katie Kuenemann, Halle Rourke, Jenna Sartoretto, Isabel Sikon, Emma Simpton and Lucy Stanhope.

Lindenwood transfer and All-MIC honoree Nya Kraus, along with Reese Baechle, Reese Baker, Lauren Hollifield and Molly Peterson will compete in their first meet for the Huskers.

Last Time Out

The Huskers finished the 2024 season in the second round of the NCAA regionals, scoring a 196.600. Nebraska also finished seventh at the 2024 Big Ten Championships with a total score of 196.250.

Scouting the Competition
Auburn
Nebraska and Auburn have competed 7 times, with the Huskers holding a 6-1 advantage in the series. The last time the two faced off in 2015, the Tigers came out with a 197.075-196.675 victory. Auburn is ranked 17th in the WCGA preseason poll and has eight seniors on its roster.

BYU
The last time Nebraska and BYU clashed was in 2022, when BYU won 195.750-193.925. BYU leads the series 13-12. The Cougars were ranked 27th in the WCGA preseason poll and have nine seniors on their roster.

Oklahoma
Nebraska and Oklahoma have faced off 95 times, with the most recent time coming in 2018, when Oklahoma captured a 198.0375-196.800 win. Nebraska holds the series lead 62-33. In their first season as part of the SEC conference, the Sooners were tabbed as the No. 1 team in the WCGA poll and have 4 seniors on their roster.
