Straub Named to USBC Collegiate Hall of Fame

Former Nebraska Bowling Head Coach Bill Straub is one of five individuals in the 2025 USBC Collegiate Hall of Fame Class. USBC announced the inductees on Thursday, and the ceremony will take place April 16 during the Intercollegiate Team Championships Night of Champions banquet in Las Vegas to be streamed live on BowlTV.

“Being a native Nebraskan and enjoying decades of employment with the Husker athletic department, I am indeed honored with this Hall of Fame recognition,” Straub said.

Straub, the four-time National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Coach of the Year, was at the helm of the Nebraska men’s bowling program from 1984-2003 and the women’s team from 1985-2019, helping the Huskers claim a combined 12 national titles.

During Straub’s tenure, the Nebraska women’s program qualified for the national tournament 31 consecutive years between 1989 and 2019, leading Nebraska to 10 national titles (1991, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2004, 2005, 2009, 2013 and 2015). Straub’s men’s teams reached the national finals first in 1985 and subsequently in 15 out of 16 seasons between 1988 and 2003, and won the national title twice (1990 and 1996).

Throughout his coaching career at Nebraska, the men were ranked no worse than fifth every year from 1988-2003 and the women were ranked in the top five each season from 1989-2019. From 1997-2019, Straub led the Nebraska women to an overall record of 2,370 wins against just 467 losses, a winning percentage of 84%.
