Big Red Host Wichita State, Washington State

After starting the season 2-0 at UC Riverside, the Nebraska women’s tennis team returns home for a weekend of duals at the Dillon Tennis Center. 

The Huskers will host Wichita State (1-1, 0-0 American) on Friday, Jan. 24 at 4 p.m. CT. On Sunday, Jan. 26 at 11:30 a.m. CT, the Big Red will close out the weekend of competition against Washington State (4-0, 0-0 Pac 12). The two visiting teams will compete in a neutral dual at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, Jan. 25.

Matches will have a live stream available and linked on huskers.com.

The Huskers are coming off the fall individual season in which the team tallied 34 singles wins. Sophomore Maria Taranova led the Big Red in fall singles wins with seven, and had a stellar freshman season in which she earned a 23-8 record, the most wins by a freshman since 2010.

Wichita State (1-1, 0-0 American)
History: NU leads, 16-5
The Shockers enter the weekend with a split record. Sophomore Xin Tong Wang is currently ranked No. 62 by the ITA, and qualified for nationals. Doubles pair Chantava and Roselli are also currently ranked, at No. 91, the first Shocker pair to do so since 2021. WSU went 13-10 in duals last season, going 0-4 against Power Four opponents. 

Washington State (4-0, 0-0 Pac 12)
History: NU leads, 2-1
The Cougars are off to a 4-0 start this season, having already taken down UC Davis, Idaho, Eastern Washington and Michigan State. They have outscored opponents 25-3 this year, showing lots of improvement after their 10-12 record from the 2023-24 season.
