Huskers Shoot School Record in Win at Army

The No. 10 Nebraska rifle team shot a school-record aggregate score of 4,731 to win a four-team match in West Point, N.Y. on Saturday. NU topped No. 14 Army (4,672), No. 20 UAB (4,575), and Mount Aloysius (4,566).

The Big Red took four of the top five spots overall. Junior Emma Rhode finished first, tying her own school record of 1,193. Freshman Alivia Perkins placed second with a score of 1,183, and Maddy Moyer followed in third with a mark of 1,180. Junior Camilla Johannessen (fifth, 1,175)  rounded out the top five finishers.

Rhode won all three events of the day, as she posted the second-highest smallbore score in program history with a score of 596, and won the air rifle with a mark of 597.

“It finally came together for us,” Head Coach Richard Clark said. “It was a very fun day watching the team compete the way they have every day in practice so far this season and was really good for them to show themselves what they are capable of. I am very proud of the team for setting two program records today with a 2,354 in smallbore and 4,731 in aggregate. Emma had yet another stand out week matching her individual aggregate program record to help lead the way. It took everyone answering the call to perform, and I look forward to them carrying this momentum with them the rest of spring.”

In the smallbore, Nebraska placed three shooters in the top five to earn a program-high score of 2,354. Rhode placed first with her 596, with Moyer following in second with a score of 589. Perkins took fourth with a mark of 588, as Johannessen (sixth, 581) and Grace Corbett (10th, 574) finished out the lineup for the Huskers.

NU took the top four spots in the air rifle to tie its season-high score of 2,377. Rhode took first with a score of 597, and Alivia Perkins followed in second with a mark of 595. Johannessen finished third with a score of 594, and Perkins (fourth, 591) completed the sweep. Corbett (15th, 579) rounded out the lineup for the Big Red in the event.

Nebraska will travel to El Paso, Texas to take on No. 16 UTEP in what will be its final regular-season match on Saturday, Feb. 1. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m. (CT).
