Huskers Finish Regular Season at UTEP

The No. 10 Nebraska rifle team travels to El Paso, Texas to take on No. 16 UTEP for its final match of the regular season this Saturday, Feb. 1. The match is set to begin at 8:45 a.m. (CT).

NU comes into the competition at 11-5 after a record-setting match day in West Point, N.Y., on Jan. 25. The Huskers (4,731) took the top spot in a four-team match against No. 14 Army (4,672), No. 20 UAB (4,575) and Mt. Aloysius (4,566). Nebraska’s aggregate score of 4,731 was good enough to set a new school record, in addition to scoring a record-high score of 2,354 in the smallbore. Junior Emma Rhode had yet another impressive day, tying her own aggregate school record with a mark of 1,193.

“We’re ready to hit the road again this weekend,” Head Coach Richard Clark said. “Coming off the program record last weekend, I’ve been very impressed with the way our team has continued to work. They’ve kept their heads down and continued to strive for excellence in all of the little things. I’m excited to see them carry the momentum we’ve been building these last couple of weeks into Saturday's match and perform the way they know how to as we come down the final stretch of the season.”

No. 16 UTEP enters the match coming off a third place finish in a three-team match on Sunday, Jan. 19. The Miners (4,655) fell to No. 3 TCU (4,714) and No. 9 Ohio State (4,703). The Huskers have UTEP 26 times since 2000, and have won 21 of those matches. NU most recently defeated UTEP, 4,720-4,672, on Nov. 10, 2024.

Following its final match of the regular season, the Big Red will travel to Fort Wayne, Ind., to compete in the PRC Championships on Feb. 8 and 9. The start time for the match is yet to be determined.
