Reno, Nev. - After five days of competition, four current Huskers and one alumni were named to Team USA and Junior Team USA teams at the United States Bowling Congress’ Team USA Trials and U.S. Amateur on Tuesday night.
During the event, players earned points based on where they had finished after each day of competition. After five days of six-game blocks, the lowest earner of points determined the 2025 Team USA Trials champions.
Current assistant coach and Husker alum, Julia Bond, finished the highest of all Huskers competing, finishing eighth with 98 points and earning a spot on Team USA.
Junior Jillian Martin and former Nebraska bowler Shannon Pluhowsky were also selected to Team USA. This week, the two bowlers are competing for Team USA at the IBF World Cup in Hong Kong, China, where Martin currently sits third in singles qualifying.
Nebraska commit Abigail Starkey, finished 17th in the standings and ninth in the amateur championship with 136 points. Starkey was selected for the second consecutive year to the Junior Team USA team based on her ranking at the trials.
Freshman Karina Capron finished the competition in 73rd and 61st in the amateur championship standings with 316 points. However, Capron qualified for Junior Team USA after her win at the 2024 Junior Gold Championship.
