Huskers Back in Action in Arkansas

Jonesboro, Ark. - The first-ranked Nebraska bowling team will travel this week to Jonesboro, Arkansas, competing at the Mid-Winter Invitational.

The Cornhuskers are coming off a third-place finish at the Storm Flyer Classic. NU finished the weekend with a 11-2 record, the second best in the field, including six wins over NTCA ranked opponents.

Last season at the Mid-Winter Invitational, the Huskers finished fifth out of a 15 team field, compiling a 10-3 overall record. The teams joining the Big Red include eight teams ranked in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) top 10: No. 2 Vanderbilt, No. 3 Jacksonville State, No. 4 Arkansas State, No. 5 Youngstown State, No. 7 Wichita State, No. 8 Sam Houston, No. 9 Stephen F. Austin, and No. 10 Maryville. No. 11 Louisiana Tech, No. 13 McKendree, No. 14 Wisconsin-Whitewater and No. 17 Alabama Birmingham (UAB) complete the remaining ranked teams joining the Cornhuskers. Alabama State, Grambling State, Jackson State and Quincy round out the rest of the field.

The first ball will be thrown Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. (CT) with five sets of five-game baker matches. The tournament continues with five traditional matches Saturday morning, beginning at 9:25 a.m. (CT). The combined results from Friday and Saturday will determine seeding for Sunday’s bracket-play championship tournament. Each team will play three best-of-seven baker matches, beginning at 8:10 a.m. (CT).
