No. 15 Nebraska Hosts No. 11 Greenville in Home Opener

Lincoln, Neb. - The Nebraska men’s gymnastics team hosts the No.11 Greenville Panthers at the Bob Devaney Sports Center this Saturday, Feb. 15, at 1 p.m. (CT). The meet is free and will be streamed on B1G+. A Big Ten Championship celebration and an autograph poster session will follow the meet. 

Last Time Out 
Nebraska took a narrow loss against Big Ten foe Illinois and notched a team score of 320.800. Luke James earned a title on floor exercise, Chris Hiser earned his sixth title on still rings, Alex Nitache and Nathan York tied for first on parallel bars and Cole Partridge earned a title on high bar. This was York and Partridge’s first event title in their collegiate careers. 

Scouting the Competition
Greenville earned a season-high of 308.800 against Oklahoma and Stanford, earning third place. Junior Ricky Mays tied for third on vault with a 14.10. The Panthers collectively scored highest on floor exercise with a 53.45. 

NU leads the series against Greenville 2-0, and Nebraska downed the Panthers, 412.900-395.700, in the most recent meeting last season. 

Big Ten Regular Season Championship Celebration
In 2024, Nebraska won its first Big Ten regular season title, which it shared with Illinois. Nebraska went 3-1 last year, winning against Penn State, Illinois and Ohio State to clinch the championship. A banner will unveil the regular season title, and a magnet giveaway will be held to celebrate the title. 

Husker Homecoming 
Head Coach of the Panthers and former Husker Zach Peters returns to Lincoln for the third time. Peters graduated in 2021 and was a team captain for two years at Nebraska. He competed at the NCAA finals in vault and floor in 2019 and on vault in 2018, and was a Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree. 

Quick Notes

  • Senior Yanni Chronopoulos will be competing in the Elite Canada meet. The Olympic Alternate will be competing starting Feb. 13-16.
  • Freshman Caden Clinton qualified for the Winter Cup in Louisville, Kenn.
