Only dropping one match on the day, the Nebraska women’s tennis team (8-1) swept Saint Louis (1-4) 7-0 and defeated Omaha (2-5) 6-1 on Saturday. Picking up 11 singles wins and four doubles victories, NU only lost one matchup in its home doubleheader to extend its win streak to four.
The day started with doubles against the Billikens on Saturday morning. On Court One, Emma Rizzetto and Ana Zamburek teamed up to get a quick 5-1 lead over Duran/White. On Courts Two and Three, Saint Louis took the first two games, but the Big Red fought back to gain 4-3 leads. All three courts proved to be tight, tied at 5-5. Rizzetto/Zamburek finished first, winning 7-5. Loy/Taranova were not far behind, also finishing 7-5, to claim the doubles point for Nebraska. Court Three was left unfinished with Rossini/Miyoshi leading in a tie-break, 6-6.
With the doubles point clinched, the Huskers began singles. NU took the first set on every court, including Natalia Trigosso at No. 6, coming back from 0-3 to win the set 7-5. Loy on Court Four finished her match first, taking down Hill 6-1, 6-1. Miyoshi closed on Court Five, winning over Joao 6-1, 6-3, pushing the team score to Nebraska 3, Saint Louis 0. Zamburek clinched the dual win for the Huskers, defeating Duran at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-4.
Court Two finished next, with Taranova taking the match over White in a 10-point tiebreaker third set. The Husker notched team point number five for NU with her 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 [10-4] win. Trigosso completed her win over Barlow, 7-5, 6-2. Coe closed it out on Court Three, defeating Ferreira 6-4, 6-4. Nebraska took down the Billikens 7-0, to improve to 7-1 on the season.
After a break, the Big Red came back on the court to take on the Mavericks for the afternoon dual. Play started with doubles, and Court Three’s Coe/Trigosso dominated with a 6-1 win. Rizzetto/Rossini claimed the doubles point for NU, defeating Shannon/Kock, 6-2. Court One was left unfinished, with Loy/Zamburek leading 4-3.
Up one after doubles, the in-state foes took the singles courts. On Court Six, Trigosso finished first, defeating VanPelt 6-0, 6-3. Coe was close behind, finishing on her second-set comeback from 0-4 to win over Buckels, 6-2, 6-4. Rossini clinched the match for NU, defeating Wiese 6-3, 6-2.
Taranova battled for her second win of the day on Court Two, this time taking down Arcarons 6-4, 6-4. Rizzetto notched another point for Nebraska on Court One, defeating Adkins 7-6(1), 6-3. Miyoshi rallied at No. 5 singles, but lost her match in the third set to Kock, 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 [10-7].
With its second win of the day, Nebraska improves to 8-1 on the spring season. Emma Rizzetto tallied her 30th career singles win and Maria Taranova now leads NU in spring singles wins, now 7-1. Head Coach German Dalmagro notched his 22nd dual win with the Big Red, as the team keeps course, matching its nine-dual record from the 2023-24 season.

NU will stay home for a pair of matches next weekend. The Huskers will face off against Miami (OH) at 5 p.m. CT on Friday, Feb. 21, before closing out the weekend against Liberty at 11:00 a.m. CT on Sunday, Feb. 23. Parking and admission are free.
