The No. 20 Nebraska women’s gymnastics team (2-9, 1-4 Big Ten) will travel to Minneapolis, Minn. on Saturday, Feb. 22 to take on the No. 13 Minnesota Golden Gophers (6-1, 4-1 Big Ten). The meet is slated to start at 4 p.m. (CT) at the Maturi Pavillion and will be streamed on B1G+.
Saturday’s battle marks the 57th matchup between Nebraska and Minnesota. NU holds a 36-19-1 lead in the series. The last time the two teams faced off was during the 2024 season on Friday, Feb. 23, when Minnesota earned a 196.900-195.725 victory.
Last Time Out
NU fell to No. 7 Michigan State on Saturday, 196.725-196.700, at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
Emma Spence grabbed a share of the all-around title for NU with a 39.425, while also splitting the bars title with teammate Whitney Jencks with a 9.900.
Nebraska grabbed three season highs at the meet and a team high vault score with a 49.025.
Scouting the Competition
Minnesota is tied for second place in the Big Ten and sits at No. 13 overall in the Road to Nationals poll. The Golden Gophers have Big Ten victories over No. 22 Ohio State, No. 25 Penn State, Iowa and Washington. They average a team score of 196.496, with their highest being 197.375 against Iowa.
Mya Hooten led Minnesota in its most recent meet, a 197.375-195.800 victory over Ohio State. Hooten took home the vault and floor titles, and a share of the bars title.
