The Nebraska women’s tennis team (6-1) downed the South Dakota Coyotes (3-3) on Saturday afternoon at the Dillon Tennis Center. The Big Red used five singles wins and two doubles wins to defeat the Coyotes and claim a second consecutive dual win.
Kicking off with the doubles matches, Yuzu Miyoshi and Natalia Trigosso (NU) took down Selena Bird and Anna Medvyedyeva (SD) 6-1 on Court Three. Next, Ana Zamburek and Reya Lee Coe (NU) fought hard, but fell to Caves/de Oliveira (SD) 6-4. Lucy Loy and Maria Taranova (NU) outlasted Havlickova/Chadick (SD) on Court Two, winning 7-5.
After awarding the doubles point to the Huskers, singles play started. On Court Six, Trigosso (NU) won against Alves de Lima (SD) in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Taranova (NU) also took the victory against de Oleveira (SD) on Court Two (6-2, 6-1). On Court One, Zamburek (NU) faced Havlickova (SD), and was able to secure the 6-4, 6-2 for the Huskers. Subsequently, Coe (NU) defeated Caves (SD) in two straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. Chadick (SD) took down Miyoshi (NU) on Court Five, 4-6, 3-6. To finish the match, Lucy Loy (NU) took down Bird (SD) in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 4 singles.
The Huskers notched a dominant 6-1 win, improving their spring record to 6-1, while the Coyotes fell to 3-3. With the win, Nebraska also claimed its 10th win over South Dakota, now 10-0 in series history.

The Big Red will return to the Dillon Tennis Complex next Saturday Feb. 15 for a dual doubleheader. Nebraska will face the St. Louis Billikens at 11 a.m. CT, followed by the Omaha Mavericks at 4 p.m. CT. Parking and admission are free.
