Huskers Post Season-Best Score, Fall to Wolverines

Despite posting its best team score of the season, the No. 25 Nebraska women’s gymnastics team fell to No. 17 Michigan 197.100-196.750 on Sunday in Ann Arbor, Michigan at the Crisler Center.

The Huskers moved to 2-8 on the season (1-3 Big Ten), while Michigan improved to 6-2 (3-1 Big Ten).

Sophia McClelland claimed the floor title with a 9.925 and won the all-around title with a 39.375. Isabel Sikon also grabbed a share of the vault title with a 9.825. Spence took second in the all-around with a 39.350, and Jencks grabbed third with a 39.300.

Rotation One
The Huskers opened the night on bars, notching a season high team score of 49.325. Emma Simpton and Whitney Jencks both grabbed a 9.900, a season high mark for Simpton. Spence and McClelland both followed with a 9.850, with Isabel Sikon close behind with a 9.825. Emalee Frost (9.700) rounded out the lineup.

Rotation Two
Sikon posted a 9.825 on vault to lead NU to a 48.725 team score. Jencks (9.750), Spence (9.750) and Katie Kuenemann (9.725) followed for the Big Red. Ayzhia Hall (9.675) and McClelland (9.650) finished the lineup.

Rotation Three
Nebraska scored a season-high 49.375 on floor, led by McClelland (9.925) and Spence (9.900) both tying their season highs. Halle Rourke earned a 9.875 for Nebraska, followed by Lauren Homecillo with a 9.850. Jencks (9.825) and Baechle (9.725) rounded out the rotation.

Rotation Four
The Big Red concluded the night on beam and scored a 49.325 as a team. McClelland tied her career high with a 9.950. Simpton set a season high of 9.900, with Spence scoring a 9.850 to follow. Jencks (9.850), Sikon (9.800) and Homecillo (8.525) ended the evening for NU.
