After a split weekend of conference play, the #39 Nebraska men’s tennis team returns home for duals against #52 Purdue and #62 Indiana on Friday and Sunday.
The Huskers (10-6, 3-3 Big Ten) meet the Boilermakers (9-6, 1-5 Big Ten) on Friday, March 28, at 6 pm (CT). On Sunday, March 30, NU takes on the Hoosiers (9-8, 0-6 Big Ten) at noon (CT). On the road last weekend, Nebraska defeated Penn State 5-2, and fell to #3 Ohio State, putting the Big Red at 3-3 in conference play.
The No. 39 Huskers have three athletes in the rankings. Senior Mueller is currently ranked No. 73 in the ITA National Rankings, while doubles duo Lars Johann and Anton Shepp hold the No. 29 doubles spot.
NU looks to improve on its 2023-24 spring season finish of 17-10. The team reached the Big Ten Tournament semifinals for the first time in program history, and concluded with the most dual wins in a season since 1990. The Big Red finished with a national ranking of No. 49, and Mueller being named First Team All-Big Ten.
#52 Purdue (9-6, 1-5 Big Ten)
History: 8-6 PUR leads; Since their first matchup in 2001, the Boilermakers have tallied eight victories over the Big Red. Most recently, the Huskers won 5-2 in West Lafayette. Ind.
Purdue brings one ranked Boilermaker to Lincoln with #104 Aleksa Krivokapic. Krivokapic is coming off a straight-set upset against #5 Ozan Baris in Purdue’s loss to MSU (5-2). The Boilermakers are on a three-loss streak, with their latest win against #20 Illinois (4-3).
#62 Indiana (9-8, 0-6 Big Ten)
History: 8-5 IND leads; Since their first matchup in 2009, the Hoosiers lead the Huskers head-to-head, with eight wins. Most recently, the Big Red defeated IU 5-2 in Bloomington, Ind.
Coming in at No. 11 nationally, Hoosier doubles duo Yunis/Van Assendelft represent IU in the ITA rankings. Indiana is on an eight-loss streak after starting its season 9-0. The Hoosiers will face #53 Wisconsin on Friday before heading to Lincoln.
