Huskers Celebrate 20-Win Season at Awards Banquet

Written byJeff Griesch

The Nebraska women's basketball team gathered with family and friends of the program at the Grand Manse in downtown Lincoln to celebrate a successful 2024-25 campaign at its end-of-the-season awards banquet on Sunday, April 13.

More than 200 gathered to celebrate Nebraska's second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament and back-to-back 20-win seasons. The Huskers (21-12) won two games at the Big Ten Tournament and all of their losses on the season came against NET top-50 teams.

Nebraska natives Alexis Markowski and Britt Prince were honored as team Co-Most Valuable Players for the season. Markowski led the Big Red in scoring (16.3 ppg) and rebounding (8.0 rpg) while earning first-team All-Big Ten honors for the second straight season. The 6-3 center from Lincoln finished her career as Nebraska's all-time leader with 53 double-doubles, while ranking second in rebounds (1,220) and seventh in points (1,902). She was the first Husker in history to be a four-time first- or second-team all-conference selection.

Prince, a 5-11 point guard from Omaha, led Nebraska with 3.8 assists and 1.7 steals while ranking second in scoring at 13.4 points per game. Prince became the first freshman point guard in school history to total 400 points, 100 rebounds and 100 assists in a season, while also becoming the first freshman in 30 years to record 50 steals. A member of the five-player Big Ten All-Freshman Team, the Elkhorn North grad was also an honorable-mention All-Big Ten selection.

Junior Callin Hake claimed Nebraska Women's Basketball Lifter-of-the-Year honors for the second time in her three seasons as a Husker. The 5-8 guard from Victoria, Minn., started 30 of NU's 33 games and averaged 6.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists while leading the Big Red in charges drawn. She was also Nebraska's Lifter of the Year as a freshman in 2023.

Kendall Moriarty rounded out the individual award winners by claiming the Husker Impact award. The 6-1 guard from Wheaton, Ill., finished her career tied for ninth with 131 games played. As a senior, Moriarty hit a career-best 39.4 percent of her three-point attempts. She also scored a career-high 17 points in Nebraska's win over Wisconsin (Jan. 20).

Head Coach Amy Williams and staff also recognized the continued academic success of the Husker program, as every member of the 2024-25 roster earned an academic award, including eight All-Big Ten selections and four College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honorees.

Nebraska will lose graduated seniors Markowski, Moriarty, Kendall Coley and Alberte Rimdal for the 2025-26 season, but return all nine other members of its 2024-25 roster, including 2024 Big Ten Freshman-of-the-Year Natalie Potts, 2025 Big Ten All-Freshman pick Britt Prince, 2024 Big Ten All-Freshman guard Logan Nissley and 2025 returning starters Jessica Petrie and Callin Hake.  Nebraska also welcomes the return of senior-to-be Allison Weidner and 2025 freshmen contributors Petra Bozan and Amiah Hargrove along with redshirt freshman Kennadi Williams.
