The Nebraska men’s golf team closes its 2024-25 regular-season schedule by traveling to Columbus, Ohio for the Robert Kepler Invitational (April 18-19).
The two-day, 54-hole tournament on the 7,455-yard, par-71 layout of the Scarlet Course at The Ohio State University Golf Club gets underway with tee times off No. 1 and No. 10 at 6:30 a.m. (CT) on Friday, April 18. The event concludes with the final round on Saturday, again featuring tee times at 6:30 a.m. (CT).
Nebraska will take aim at its seventh top-five tournament finish of the season in a 13-team field at Ohio State. The Huskers are coming off their second straight third-place finish after totaling 854 (+14) in an 18-team field at the Tiger Intercollegiate in Columbia, Mo. (April 7-8).
The Big Red also finished third in a 16-team field at the Bell Bank “Pay It Forward” Collegiate in Litchfield Park, Ariz. (March 24-25). The Huskers fired a season-best 849 (-15) in Arizona, after tying for fifth at The Johnnie-O (March 17-18).
Nebraska has continued to show improvement throughout the season and has climbed to No. 79 in the national rankings.
The Huskers have been led this spring by Hamish Murray, a senior from Sydney, Australia, who earned Big Ten Co-Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week honors (March 27) after tying for third with a career-best 209 (-7) that included a career-best 66 (-6) in the final round at the Bell Bank “Pay It Forward”. He added a tie for fifth at the Tiger Intercollegiate with a 212 (+2) last week. He owns a 71.65 stroke average this season, including a team-best 70.64 over 11 rounds this spring.
Brodie Cunningham has nearly matched Murray this spring. The freshman from Glasgow, Scotland, carries a 71.00 stroke average over 11 spring rounds and owns three consecutive top-15 finishes for the Huskers. He tied for eighth with a 213 (+3) in Missouri, including a career-best 66 (-4) in the final round. He also tied Murray for third at the Bell Bank “Pay It Forward” (March 24-25).
Rudy Sautron leads the Huskers on the season with a team-best 71.52 stroke average, including six top-15 finishes. Sautron, a sophomore from Reunion Island, France, tied for 12th in Arizona with a 212 (-4) that included a second-round 67 (-5).
Evan McDermott, who tied for 22nd with a 216 (+6) in Missouri and Reed Malleck have continued to solidify the Husker lineup. McDermott owns a career-best 73.31 stroke average with three top-25 finishes. He is the only Husker to join Murray for all 26 rounds in the NU lineup this season. Malleck carries a career-best 73.78 stroke average this season.
