The Nebraska men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete at the Gans Creek Classic this Friday, Sept. 26 in Columbia, Mo. The men's 8k will start at 8:15 a.m. (CT) and the women’s 6k will begin at 9 a.m. (CT).
Last Time Out
The Huskers competed in their home meet, the Greeno/Dirksen Invitational, at Mahoney Park Golf Course in Lincoln, Neb. The men took the course first and placed 12th out of 23 teams in the 8k with 342 points. Scoring for the men was Grant Wasserman (28th, 25:48.5), Gabe Nash (67th, 26:04.3), Hannes Fahl (103rd, 26:36.7), Tommy Rice (105th, 26:39.4), and Jack Witte (117th, 26:52.3). They were followed by Kaleb Sharp who crossed the line in 139th place in a time of 27:12.9.
Five Husker women took on the course next and placed seventh as a team out of 22 teams in the women's 5k race. Jordyn Brown was first across the line for the Huskers and came in 23rd place with a time of 18:28.5. She was followed by Taya Fettig (34th, 18:46.9) and Kate Ebmeier (44th, 18:58.4). Capping off the women’s line up was Erin Moore (49th, 19:11.7) and Claire Helmers (50th, 19:13.8).
Gans Creek Classic History
This year marks the seventh annual Gans Creek Classic held by Missouri. The Huskers last attended this event in 2023 where the women brought home first place and the men came in 15th. This trip will just be the Husker’s second appearance at this event.
