Huskers Head to Semifinals on Day Two

The No. 2 Nebraska wrestling team defeated No. 11 Michigan, 24-14, on Saturday evening to advance to the semifinals on Sunday at the National Duals Invitational in Tulsa, Okla. 

With the win over the Wolverines, NU secured a semifinal matchup against No. 4 Ohio State at 10 a.m. (CT) tomorrow morning. 

Kael Lauridsen moved into the starting lineup to face No. 20 Diego Sotelo. The redshirt freshman dropped a 5-2 decision, giving Michigan a 3-0 lead.  

At 133, No. 11 Jacob Van Dee brought the heat to get a 9-0 major decision over Gauge Botero before No. 2 Brock Hardy defeated Eren Sement at 141 with a tech. fall, 20-5.  

No. 4 Lachlan McNeil defeated Nikade Zinkin in a 15-5 major decision. With a 9-7 team lead, No. 1 Antrell Taylor won a 20-5 tech. fall over No. 30 Cameron Catrabone at 157. Dez Gartrell stepped in at 165, but fell to Dylan Gilcher, 11-1. 

In an exciting match at 174, No. 4 Christopher Minto and No. 11 Beau Mantanona were tied 1-1 at the end of the third when Minto snagged a takedown in overtime, 4-1, to give Nebraska a 17-11 lead over Michigan.   

At 184, No. 6 Silas Allred fell short to No. 14 Brock Mantanona in a 10-8 decision. With two bouts to go, No. 6 Camden McDanel defeated No. 20 Hayden Walters at 197 in sudden victory, 4-1. 

In a heavyweight showdown and top-five matchup, No. 2 AJ Ferrari secured his third dual win in the Husker singlet after a 11-3 major decision over No. 4 Taye Ghadiali. 

The Huskers continue their run at the National Duals, as they face No. 4 Ohio State in the semifinals. The matchup is set for 10 a.m. (CT) on Sunday, Nov. 16 with all matches streamed on FloWrestling.
