After an undefeated start to his spring season in both doubles and singles, Jeri Lassila was named Co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Wednesday. Lassila shared the award with freshman Max Exsted from USC.
Lassila is already up to two Big Ten weekly awards in his collegiate career after winning his first one in the fall season in the week of Oct. 8-14. He earns this week's award posting a 3-0 record and winning 30 of 39 games for Nebraska in duals against Memphis and Drake last Sunday. Lassila won Nebraska's first match of the day at No. 4 singles to help NU rally down 3-0 to lead them to a 4-3 win over Memphis. He only dropped three games while recording wins at the No. 3 spot in both doubles and singles in Nebraska's match against Drake, clinching the doubles point in a 4-0 win.
