Huskers Host Arkansas in Lincoln

After suffering its only loss of the season to Ole Miss, Nebraska men’s tennis will face another SEC foe taking on Arkansas on Sunday, Feb. 15 at 12 p.m. (CT) at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center in Lincoln. 

Nebraska is off to a 7-1 start to this season, bettering its 5-3 start last season when the Huskers had one of the best seasons in school history. The Huskers are 29-9 in singles play and 13-8 in doubles as a team. 

Redshirt sophomore Colson Wells leads the way in singles play with an undefeated 5-0 record. Senior Leo Linquet and freshman Jeri Lassila both only hold one loss on their 6-1 singles records. Lassila suffered his first loss of the spring season in Nebraska’s match vs. Ole Miss where he dropped his match in three sets to Vlado Jankanj, 5-7, 6-4, 2-6. On the doubles side, the pair of Henry Lamchinniah/Linquet lead the way with a 4-1 record and Wells/Lassila follow behind them with a 3-1 record as a doubles pair. Wells/Lassila split the weekend in their duals vs. Ole Miss and North Dakota helping the Huskers win the doubles point vs. Ole Miss with a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles but ended up dropping their match, 3-6 in Nebraska’s match vs. North Dakota. 

Arkansas (7-2)
History: Arkansas leads the overall series against Nebraska 7-0 with the last meeting being last season where Nebraska dropped a close one to Arkansas, 3-4. 

Arkansas comes to Lincoln with a 7-2 record with notable wins against Tulsa and San Diego State. The Razorbacks' two losses come from a 2-4 loss to Yale and a close 3-4 loss to Oklahoma State, who the Huskers take on Feb. 27. Arkansas features a younger squad of one senior, two juniors, five sophomores and one freshman. 

The Razorbacks bring some highly ranked athletes into the dual with the Huskers featuring the No. 19 singles player Jakub Vrba who has a 14-4 spring season record and the No. 31 doubles pair of Connor Smillie and Jakub Vrba who have a 7-6 overall record. Vrba, who is only a sophomore, has found success in his collegiate career finishing his 2025 freshman season with a 15-5 singles record and a ranking as high No. 102 and a 15-10 doubles record with as high of rank as No. 19. 

*Arkansas will also play a neutral match vs. Creighton on Sunday, Feb. 15 at 5:30 p.m. in Lincoln. 

Home duals will be hosted as the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center, where parking and admission are free. Concessions will be available with no outside food and drink allowed.
