Huskers Top Illinois on Senior Night

The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team secured a 195.750-194.000 victory over Illinois on Sunday at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

The Huskers improved to 4-4 (2-3 Big Ten) on the season, while Illinois fell to 3-5 (1-4 Big Ten).

Lauren Homecillo and Whitney Jencks each took a share of the floor title with a 9.875. Whitney Jencks took second in the all-around with a 39.300 and Isabel Sikon took third with a 38.225.

Rotation One
The Huskers kicked off the evening on vault, notching a 49.025. Reese Baechle led the way, tying her season high with a 9.850. Molly Peterson (9.800), Tegan Shaver (9.800) and Sikon (9.800) followed for NU. Jencks (9.775) finished out the lineup. That also tied a career high for Jencks.

Rotation Two
Behind a pair of 9.900s from Nya Kraus and Jencks, Nebraska earned a 49.125 on bars. Peterson (9.850), Sikon (9.750) and Olivia Burns (9.725) rounded out the event. That tied another career mark for Jencks.

Rotation Three
Nebraska continued the night with a 48.775 on beam. They were led by Kraus with a 9.800. Homecillo (9.775) and Jencks (9.750) followed for the Big Red. Burns (9.725) and Allie Gard (9.725) finished out the lineup.

Rotation Four
NU concluded the contest on floor, posting a 48.800. Jencks and Homecillo led the way with a 9.875. Kraus (9.700) and Gard (9.700) followed for the Huskers. Sikon (9.650) concluded the competition. That marked a season high for Jencks.
