Sautron Shatters School Records, Shares Title in Alabama

Written byJeff Griesch

Rudy Sautron smashed the Nebraska individual tournament record with a 195 (-15) on his way to a share of medalist honors to lead the Husker men's golf team at the Hal Williams Collegiate in Semmes, Alabama on Tuesday.

Sautron, a junior from Reunion Island, France, opened the tournament on Monday with a school individual record round of 62 (-8) on the 7,129-yard, par-70 layout of the Crossings Course at the Magnolia Grove Country Club outside of Mobile.

Sautron's record-setting opening round began with four consecutive birdies (No. 4-7) and included eight birdies and 10 pars. His 62 was one shot better than the school-record 63 (-9) he fired during the fall of 2024 at the Steelwood Collegiate (Oct. 27), which was also hosted by South Alabama.

Sautron followed on Monday with a second-round 65 (-5) that included six more birdies along with 11 pars and one bogey.

His 36-hole total of 127 (-13) was also a school record.

Sautron finished off his record-setting opening week of the spring season with a 68 (-2) that included three more birdies, 14 pars and just his second bogey of the tournament to finish at 195 (-15). He broke his own previous Nebraska tournament record of 200 (-13), which he set while winning the 2025 Git-R-Done Invitational at Firethorn Golf Club (Sept. 22-23).

He shared medalist honors with Ryan Voois from Illinois, who put together rounds of 66, 63 and 66. Benjamin Fernandez from Southern Miss took third at 198 (-12).

Sautron helped the Huskers to a tie for fifth with Memphis in the 14-team tournament at 830 (-10).

Freshman Caden Mickelson contributed a top-25 finish with a 209 (-1), including rounds of 69 (-1) to open and close the tournament.

Sophomores Jackson Benge and Brodie Cunningham tied for 52nd at 215 (+5), while James Ackerman rounded out the Husker contingent in a tie for 61st at 217 (+7).

Illinois ran away with the team title with a three-round total of 809 (-31), while Southern Miss finished second at 824. UAB took third at 826 (-14), while Eastern Michigan claimed fourth at 827 (-13), just three strokes ahead of the Huskers and Tigers.

Nebraska returns to action at The Johnnie-O at St. Simons Island, Ga., March 9-10.
