Nebraska's Rudy Sautron earned his second Big Ten Men's Golfer-of-the-Week award of the season and third of his career when the conference announced its weekly honors on Thursday, Feb. 19.
Sautron, a junior from Reunion Island, France, shattered multiple school records on his way to sharing individual medalist honors at the Hal Williams Collegiate in Semmes, Alabama (Feb. 16-17).
Sautron, who shared the Big Ten weekly honor with Hal Williams Collegiate tournament co-champion Ryan Voois from Illinois, fired an opening-round 62 (-8) on the par-70, 7,129-yard Crossings Course at the Magnolia Grove Golf Club outside of Mobile to eclipse his own school record of 63 (-9) at the Steelwood Collegiate (Oct. 27, 2024).
Sautron followed with a second-round 65 to register another school record with a 127 (-13) through 36 holes. He finished off his tournament victory with a final-round 68 (-2) to close with a school 54-hole record 195 (-15).
It was Sautron's second tournament title of the season, joining his win at the Git-R-Done Invitational in Lincoln (Sept. 22-23). He also earned a Big Ten Golfer-of-the-Week award following his title at the Git-R-Done Invitational.
Sautron improved his team-best stroke average to 70.10 (-1.15) over 20 rounds with his fifth top-25 tournament finish of the year.
Sautron and the Huskers will be back in action at The Johnnie-O in St. Simons Island, Ga., March 9-10.
