Nebraska's Rudy Sautron captured his third Big Ten Golfer-of-the-Week award this season when the conference announced its honors on Thursday, March 12.
Sautron, a junior from Reunion Island, France, continued his record-breaking season by sharing his third individual title of the year with a school-record (-18) and a 54-hole score of 198 at The Johnnie-O at Sea Island (March 9-10).
Sautron opened the tournament with an eight-under par 64, before adding rounds of 68 (-4) and 66 (-6) on the 7,060-yard par-72 layout of the Plantation Course at the Sea Island Resort in St. Simons Island, Ga.
His school-record 18-under-par total helped Nebraska to an 845 (-19) team total.
Sautron, who also earned Big Ten Golfer-of-the-Week honors after sharing individual titles at the Git-R-Done Invitational (Sept. 22-23) with a then-school-record 200 (-13) and the Hal Williams Collegiate (Feb. 16-17) with a school-record 195 (-15), improved his season stroke average to 69.57 over 23 rounds. He is on pace to shatter Nebraska's school season record.
He has played 16 rounds below par this season, including six consecutive rounds of 68 or better in sharing back-to-back individual titles.
Sautron shared the Big Ten's weekly honor with Minnesota's Chun-Ta Wu, who shared the individual title at The Johnnie-O.
Sautron and the Nebraska men's golf team will be back in action at the All-American Intercollegiate in Humble, Texas, March 16-17.
