Huskers Finish Fourth at Conference USA Championship

The Nebraska bowling team fell to Louisiana Tech Saturday morning at the Conference USA Bowling Championship in Harahan, Louisiana. The Huskers went 3-2 in their first conference tournament and finished in fourth place.

The match between the fourth-seeded Huskers and fifth-seeded Bulldogs went down to the wire. Louisiana Tech won the opening traditional game by a pinfall of 1,073-1,010. Down 1-0, Nebraska needed a win in the Baker game to force a tiebreaker. The Huskers finished first and had the lead, but a clutch spare in the 10th frame allowed the Bulldogs to prevail 992-985 as they avenged a Friday loss to Nebraska.

After finishing fourth in the 12-team Conference USA Championship, Nebraska will now turn its attention to the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA Tournament field will be announced on Wednesday, March 25, at 3 p.m. (Central). Regional play will be held April 2-4 with the semifinals set for April 10 and the final on April 11.

Nebraska is the only team who has qualified for every NCAA Bowling Championship, and the Huskers lead the nation with five NCAA titles.
