The No. 54 Nebraska men’s tennis team (9-8, 1-5 Big Ten) will come back home to face Washington (7-10, 1-4 Big Ten) on Friday, March 27 at 6 p.m. (CT) at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center. The Huskers will then face their seventh ranked opponent of the year, taking on No. 46 Oregon on Sunday, March 29 at Noon (CT) in Lincoln.
The match vs. Oregon is set to be played outdoors weather permitting.
The Big Red comes off an 0-2 weekend in California where the Huskers dropped matches to a pair of ranked opponents, USC (0-4) and UCLA (0-6).
In singles, redshirt sophomore Colson Wells holds the best record on the team at 10-6. When it comes to total wins, freshman Jeri Lassila carries 12 singles wins in his debut season. In doubles play, junior Henry Lamchinniah has 12 wins and senior Leo Linquet owns a 10-6 record in doubles.
The Rankings
Nebraska men’s tennis sits at No. 54 in the ITA National Rankings with a 9-8 overall record. The Huskers' win vs. Northwestern helped them climb to the No. 45 spot before their California trip this last week where the Huskers went 0-2. Senior Nikolay Sysoev still holds a No. 81 ranking in singles play with an 8-9 singles record.
Washington (7-10, 1-4 Big Ten)
History: The series between Washington and Nebraska is currently tied at two matches a piece with the Huskers posting one one in the regular season and one in the Big Ten Tournament.
In Big Ten play, the Huskies are 1-4 with their one win being over Purdue (4-3). When it comes to common opponents, Washington has played Michigan State, Northwestern and Illinois which all resulted in losses for the Huskies. The rest of Washington’s wins come against Hawaii, Belmont, UNC Wilmington, Portland, Portland State and Tulane.
Oregon (13-3, 4-1 Big Ten )
History: Oregon leads the series vs. Nebraska, 6-3. The Huskers took the last match vs. the Ducks in the 2024-25 season, 4-3.
With a No. 46 team ranking, Oregon is an impressive 10-0 at home so far this season with a 2-2 record when away from their home court. Oregon only has two common opponents with Nebraska so far this season where both teams split the matches between Illinois and Northwestern. The Ducks' win was against Northwestern, 4-1. Oregon now sits at a 4-1 Big Ten Conference record with a match vs. No. 35 Wisconsin on March 27.
Ranked Opponents
The Ducks will bring one ranked doubles squad and one ranked singles player to Lincoln on Sunday. In doubles, sitting at No. 34 is Pierre Mouesca/Matthew Burton with a 10-2 record. In singles, Vlad Breazu boasts a No. 115 ranking with a 15-5 record.
