Johansson Named Big Ten Field Athlete of the Championships

Nebraska track and field senior Axelina Johansson was named the Big Ten Women's Field Athlete of the Championships on Wednesday. 

Johansson, the NCAA record holder in the indoor shot put, claimed first place in the event at the Big Ten Championships with a mark of 63-10 1/2 (19.47m). The next closest throw was almost an entire meter short of Johansson's best mark on the day.

The Swedish national record holder, Johansson is a five-time Big Ten shot put champion and a two-time NCAA champion. She will look to defend her indoor crown at the NCAA Championships next week in Fayetteville, Ark. 

Nebraska's Grace Parsons and Noa Isaia were named Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honorees.
