Huskers set to Host Big Ten Championships
No. 4 Nebraska is set to host the Big Ten Championships at Pinnacle Bank Arena on April 3-4. Friday, April 3, will be the team and all-around competition. Saturday, April 4, will be individual event finals. The teams competing are No. 2 Michigan, No. 4 Nebraska, No. 5 Ohio State, No. 6 Penn State and No. 7 Illinois.
Last Time Out
Nebraska lost in a tight match-up with Michigan on March 22 in Ann Arbor, Mich. They lost with a score of 330.400-325.650. Even with the loss, it was Nebraska’s highest team score of the season so far. NU had two event winners. Nathan York won the vault, and Asher Cohen won the rings.
Scouting the Competition
No. 4 Michigan ended the regular season as Big Ten Champions with a 4-0 conference record and an 11-1 overall record. Their only loss was to No. 1 Oklahoma on Jan. 24.
No. 5 Ohio State ended with a 3-1 conference record and a 6-2 overall record.
No. 6 Penn State finished up the regular season with a conference record of 1-3 and an overall record of 3-3.
No. 7 Illinois wrapped up the regular season with a 0-4 conference record and 2-7-1 overall record.
Quick Notes
- Nebraska had five people receive stuck landing bonuses in the meet against Michigan. York received one on floor and one on vault. Cohen and Ty Roderiques had ones on rings. Alex Nitache had one on parallel bars, and Nik Tarca had one on high bar.
- As a team, Nebraska is ranked second on floor, fourth on pommel horse, seventh on rings, first on vault, third on parallel bars and fourth on high bar.
- Last year at the 2025 Big Ten Championships, Nebraska came in third behind Michigan and Penn State.
- Senior Asher Cohen earned a spot as a Nissen-Emery finalist. This is one of the most prestigious awards in all of college gymnastics. The award is given out at the NCAA Championships, which will be held at Illinois.
- Asher Cohen is ranked first on rings, Ty Roderiques is ranked fifth on vault, Nathan York is ranked second on parallel bars and Max Odden is ranked second on high bar.
