After a successful 2025-26 season, the international Huskers have kicked off worldwide competition. Swimming on the inaugural day were Aurora Zanin and Amelia Riggot.
For Italy, Aurora Zanin competed in the short course 400m IM on Tuesday, April 14. The sophomore, hailing from Vittorio Veneto, Italy, swam a 4:56.36 in the preliminary round. She later placed eighth in the B final of the 400m IM with a time of 4:57.89.
Zanin will later compete in the 200 fly on Friday, April 17. Fellow Italian, Giulia Marchi, will swim in the 200m free on Wednesday and follow with the 100m free on Thursday.
Amelia Riggott, the British breaststroker, added an eighth-place finish with a time of 31.83 in the long-course 50m breast at the Aquatics GB Championships. She swam a 31.51 in the prelims for a lifetime best in the event, replacing her previous year’s time of 31.55.
Riggott will have the opportunity to swim in the 100m breaststroke on Sunday, April 19, at the championships.
Former Husker Shannon Stott (‘23) additionally competed in the 200m fly, where she finished seventh with a time of 2:11.36.
Three-time short-course school record holder, Beatrix Tanko, will represent Hungary beginning with the 4x100 medley relay on Wednesday and compete on Friday (50m fly), Saturday (100m fly) and Sunday (50m free).
