The No. 42 Nebraska women’s tennis team fell to No. 29 Wisconsin by a score of 4-1 on Friday, April 17. The Huskers (15-7, 7-5) drop their first Big Ten road match since March 13 after the loss to the Badgers.
NU grabbed just one singles victory along with two doubles and three singles losses Friday night.
Doubles began at the Nielsen Tennis Center at 6 p.m. (CT), in Madison, Wis. Nebraska’s No. 39 doubles Katie Spencer and Conley Raidt took the first loss on court one by a score of 6-1, as they were defeated by No. 21 Ivanova/Sholokhova. The Badgers then clinched the doubles point with Rangan/Usui’s victory over Yuzu Miyoshi and Emma Rizzetto on court three. Reya Lee Coe and Natalia Trigosso were left unfinished at 5-5 against Jacobson/Reynoldson on court two.
Down 1-0 after doubles, The Big Red took the courts ready for singles play. Court two was the first to finish, as Spencer fell to No. 66 Ivanova by a score of 6-0, 6-1. Wisconsin quickly struck again, as Usui topped Catherine Gagnon on court five, 6-1, 6-2, to extend the Badgers to a 3-0 lead. The Huskers attempted to fight back, as Raidt grabbed a victory on court three, taking down Rangan by a score of 7-5, 6-0. However, Maria Taranova then took a 7-5, 6-4 loss on court one to No. 17 Sholokhova, which closed out the match and gave Wisconsin the 4-1 victory over NU.

The Big Red will travel to Minneapolis, Minn. for a match against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Sunday, April 19. The match is set to begin at Noon (CT).
