The Big Red grabbed one doubles match on the day, along with two doubles and three singles losses in Sunday’s match.
Powering a strong doubles match-up was Joan Torres Espinosa and Leo Linquet on court two. The duo picked up a win over No. 35 Alex Okonkwo/Alexander Bernard in a 6-3 showing. Nebraska dropped the doubles point in a tie-breaker on court one. Henry Bilicic and Nikolay Sysoev fell 7-6 [7-4] to the No. 3 doubles team of Brandon Carpico and Nikita Filin. The first to finish was the Nebraska duo, Colson Wells/Henry Lamchiniah, in a 6-1 result to No. 43 Bryce Nakashima/Aidan Kim.
The Huskers quickly dropped the next two matches on courts four and six. Wells fell to Filin 6-1 and 6-4 on court four, and Niels Van der Sijs battled to a 6-3, 6-2 loss to Nakashima on court six, securing the 4-0 sweep for the Buckeyes.
Espinosa fought tooth and nail against Nikita Bernard on court five, where the match was left unfinished after a 7-6 [8-6] tiebreaker. Jeri Lassila’s match was also left unfinished against No. 26 Stearns at a score of 6-4, 4-3.
The No. 1 singles match between Leo Linquet and No. 24 Jack Anthrop was left unfinished with Linquet leading 6-4, 4-4.
