Tanko Crushes 100 fly for Gold

On the final day of international competition for some of the Nebraska women’s swimmers, Beatrix Tanko collected her second gold medal at the 2026 Hungarian National Championships.

After securing a title in the 50m fly on Friday, the junior sprint specialist swam a personal best time of 58.53 in the 100m fly to top the competition on Sunday. She began the event in prelims with a time of 1:00.62 and dropped to 58.90 in the semi-finals, shaving off 1.72 seconds.

Last year at the competition, Tanko earned a silver medal with a time of 59.41 for a school record that has now been shattered.

Fellow junior, Amelia Riggott, secured second in the B final of the 100m breaststroke at the Aquatics Great Britain Swimming Championships. Her time of 1:10.17 is a new long course record for the Tavistock, Great Britain native.

Returning Husker, Maisie Gilford added an eighth-place finish in the B finals of the 50m free with a near personal best time of 26.13. Nebraska alumni, Shannon Stott finished 4th in the B finals of the 100m fly with a time of 1:00.13 and NU newcomer, Georgia Holgate competed in the 50m fly (92nd, 29.09) and the 100m fly (58th, 1:03.74).
