Huskers Walk Off Run Rule in Game One Against Iowa

Hannah Camenzind recorded four hits and four RBIs and the No. 4 Nebraska softball team run-ruled the Iowa Hawkeyes, 9-1, in game one of two on Friday at Bowlin Stadium.

With the win, NU moved to 38-7 (18-1 Big Ten) on the season and extended its win streak to 13 games.

H. Camenzind led the offense, going 4-for-4 with four runs batted in in the game, while Hannah Coor added two hits and Ava Kuszak, Jesse Farrell and Kacie Hoffmann each added an RBI.

Jordy Frahm (14-4) earned the win in the circle after tossing six innings with just one hit and one run, along with 11 strikeouts.

Iowa opened up the scoring with an RBI double in the top of the first.

NU struck back quickly, scoring three runs on three hits in the bottom of the first. Frahm walked and Coor singled to put runners on first and third, and an H. Camenzind single sent Frahm across the plate. Coor scored on a Kuszak single before H. Camenzind went home on a wild pitch to give NU a 3-1 lead.

The Huskers extended the lead to 6-1 after Hoffmann, L. Camenzind and Coor loaded the bases and all three scored on an H. Camenzind single.

Bland walked in the bottom of the third and scored on a Hoffmann double to stretch the advantage to 7-1.

NU added two runs in the bottom of the sixth on singles from Farrell and Bland to lock up the 9-1 run-rule win.

The Huskers will face Iowa again at 5:20 p.m. (CT) today. The game will be streamed on B1G+ and can be heard across the Huskers Radio Network or on B107.3 FM.
