Sautron Earns Top 10 Finish in Missouri

Rudy Sautron earned his fifth top-10 finish of the season, while Jackson Benge contributed his sixth top-25 showing of the year to help the Nebraska men's golf team to a seventh-place finish in a 19-team field at the Tiger Invitational in Columbia, Mo., Tuesday.

Sautron, a junior from Reunion Island, France, tied for ninth in the 100-player field with a 54-hole score of 211 (+1) on the par-70, 7,158-yard layout of The Club at Old Hawthorne. His final-round 73 (+3) followed an opening-round 68 (-2) and an even-par 70 on Monday. It was Sautron's ninth consecutive top-25 finish.

Benge, a sophomore from Omaha, tied for 16th at 213 (+3) on the strength of a career-best 66 (-4) in Monday's opening round. Benge added rounds of 72 (+2) and 75 (+5) to wrap up the tournament.

Fellow sophomore Brodie Cunningham matched Benge's final-round 75 (+5) on Tuesday to tie for 54th overall at 219 (+9). Cunningham opened with a 71 (+1) before adding a 73 (+3) in Monday's second round.

Caden Mickelson (63rd) and Evan McDermott (67th) rounded out Nebraska's contingent at Mizzou. Mickelson closed with a three-round total of 221 (+11) that was highlighted by his second-round 68 (-2). McDermott finished at 222 (+12), including an opening-round 69 (-1).

Nebraska took seventh with a three-round total of 857 (+17), despite entering the final round in third at three-under-par. The Huskers struggled with a final-round 300 (+20), after opening the tournament with rounds of 274 (-6) and 283 (+3) on Monday.

Missouri kept the team title at home with a seven-stroke win over Iowa State. The Tigers closed at 833 (-7), while the Cyclones grabbed runner-up honors with an even-par 840. Saint Mary's (Calif.) took third at 845.

Missouri's Veikka Viskari claimed medalist honors with a 204 (-6), including a final-round 71 (+1). Viskari took control of the tournament with his second-round 65 (-5) on Monday, after an opening-round 68 (-2).

Tarleton State's Alvaro Pastor was the runner-up at 206 (-4) two shots back of Viskari. Pastor opened with a 66 (-4) Monday, before back-to-back rounds of 70 to close the tournament.

The Huskers close regular-season tournament action this weekend by traveling to the Tar Heel Intercollegiate (April 11-12).
