Huskers Wrap Up Regular Season With Husker Spring Tune-Up

The Huskers will return to the Nebraska Outdoor Track to host the Nebraska Spring Tune-Up on Friday, May 8. Senior recognition will begin at 12p.m. (CT), followed by field events at 12:30 p.m. (CT), and running events starting at 1:35 p.m. (CT).

Huskers in the Polls
In this week’s USTFCCCA rankings, the Nebraska track and field team saw both the men and women inside the top 10 for the fourth week in a row. The Husker men remain ranked 9th and the women moved up two more spots into 6th. 

The men lead the nation in the shot put and javelin event groups, and are top three in the discus and hammer throw, and high jump climbed to tenth. For the women, they top the shot put and high jump rankings, while being third in discus and ninth in both javelin and hammer. 

 

Belquist, Lambert Earn Big Ten Weekly Awards
Kelsie Belquist was named Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while Hencu Lamberts earned Men’s Freshman of the Week and Field Athlete of the Week accolades. 

Belquist won the 400mH at the Desert Heat Classic. She clocked a lifetime best of 55.60, and now leads the Big Ten by over 2.5 seconds.

Lamberts won his shot put flight at the Desert Heat Classic with a personal-best mark of 66-2 1/2 (20.18m). His throw ranks third in the Big Ten this season and No. 5 in the nation. Lamberts moved up to No. 5 in school history and has now earned three Big Ten Outdoor Freshman of the Week honors this season. 

 

First Annual Husker Cup

For the first time Nebraska Athletic Department and Media staff will race a 4x100m relay race. 10 teams will divide into two heats for this inaugural competition.
