Huskers Make Season Debut in Red-White Scrimmage

No. 1 Nebraska opened the 2026 season with its annual Red-White Scrimmage in front of a crowd of 10,753 fans in Pinnacle Bank Arena on Sunday afternoon.

The Red team defeated the White team 3-1, though the Huskers mixed their teams and lineups around for each set.

Teraya Sigler and Virginia Adriano led all players with 11 kills each. Sigler added 10 digs and a block, while Adriano chipped in four blocks and five digs. Manaia Ogbechie recorded a match-high 13 blocks and had six kills.

Skyler Pierce tallied 10 kills, three blocks and six digs, while Ryan Hunter recorded nine kills, four blocks and a dig. Harper Murray totaled eight kills, seven blocks and three digs, followed by Andi Jackson with eight kills and five blocks.

Jayden Robinson contributed seven kills, five blocks and five digs, and Kenna Cogill garnered five kills and eight blocks.

Bergen Reilly had 37 assists and 13 digs, while Campbell Flynn had 27 assists and 12 digs. Laney Choboy and Olivia Mauch had 16 and 14 digs, respectively.

Red held a 20-16 lead in the first set before three straight kills from Cogill gave White its first lead since the opening point at 22-21. White fought off set point at 25-24, while a kill from Reilly and an attack error gave Red a 27-25 victory in the first set.

In the second set, White erased an early 12-5 deficit to even the set at 15. Robinson and Cogill combined for a block to bring White back within a point at 22-21. Red rattled off three consecutive points with kills by Pierce and Williams and an attack error by White to claim the second set with a 25-21 win.

Red reeled off a 4-0 rally to grab a 7-4 lead and never looked back in the third set. Red led by as many as seven, while an attack error and kills by Pierce and Hunter completed the 25-19 third-set victory.

White got on the board in set four with a 25-17 win. Sigler and Adriano paced the White offense with four and three kills in the set, respectively.

Nebraska returns to action with an exhibition matchup against No. 17 Florida at Spikes Under the Lights at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Thursday, Aug 27 at 7 p.m. on TNT.
