No. 1 Huskers Begin Season with Sweep of UNLV

No. 1 Nebraska opened the 2026 campaign with a sweep against UNLV (25-18, 25-15, 25-16) at the Players Era Volleyball Showcase at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The Huskers hit .337 as a team and improved to 1-0 on the season, while the Rebels were held to an .054 hitting percentage and dropped to 0-1.

As a team, Nebraska held a 6-2 advantage in service aces and 10-2 advantage in blocks over UNLV.

Harper Murray recorded a match-high 11 kills on .364 hitting and added three blocks. Andi Jackson totaled eight kills and five blocks, and Teraya Sigler tallied eight kills and hit .467 in the match.

Manaia Ogbechie chipped in three kills and four blocks, while Skyler Pierce and Virginia Adriano posted three kills apiece.

Bergen Reilly recorded a double-double after totaling 32 assists and 10 digs to go with five kills and three blocks. Olivia Mauch matched Reilly with a match-high 10 digs.

Set 1: Nebraska jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead in the opening set after a kill from Jackson. The Rebels used a 5-0 rally to climb back within 12-10. The Huskers held off UNLV’s surge and gradually rebuilt its lead, with Sigler and Murray providing key kills. NU then pulled away later, scoring five consecutive points to take a 23-16 lead after back-to-back kills from Adriano and Murray. Sigler added an ace to give Nebraska set point at 24-16, and Murray finished off the set with her fourth kill of the night after UNLV fought off two set points.

Set 2: The Huskers and Rebels exchanged points to a 3-3 tie before the Husker defense collected a pair of blocks and forced two UNLV errors to grab a 7-3 advantage. Jackson and Reilly combined for three kills, followed by an error from the Rebels had the Big Red ahead 19-12. The Huskers led 20-14 after Jackson’s fourth kill of the set and completed the set on a 5-1 run to take a 25-15 victory in the set. The NU defense totaled four blocks and forced eight attack errors while stifling the Rebel to a -0.029 hitting percentage in the set.

Set 3: Nebraska claimed the third set in dominant fashion, clinch the sweep with a 25-16 win. The Huskers doubled up the Rebels with a 10-5 lead before rattling off five consecutive points, highlighted by an ace from Jackson and kills by Ogbechie and Pierce, to expand the lead to 15-5. Murray scored NU’s final two points with her 10th and 11th kills of the match to give the Huskers a 25-16 win. As a team, the Big Red racked up 14 kills and hit .310 in the set.
