Huskers Open 2026 With Exhibition at Colorado State

The Nebraska soccer team will kick off its 2026 campaign in an exhibition match against the Colorado State Rams on Wednesday, Aug. 5. The match is slated to start at 1 p.m. (CT). 

Following the contest against CSU, the Huskers will open nonconference regular-season play at Louisville on Wednesday, Aug. 12. That match is set to start at 6:30 p.m. (CT). 

Quick Notes

  • Nebraska will host 10 regular-season home matches this year, including six home Big Ten contests.
  • NU grabbed wins over South Dakota State, Creighton, Iowa State and Colorado during the spring. The Big Red also tied with Kansas.
  • Kayma Carpenter, Ella Guyott and Ella Rudney were all named Big Ten Players to Watch.
  • The Huskers return 10 letterwinners from last year’s team.
  • NU will welcome nine newcomers, including seven freshmen and two transfers in goalkeeper Avery Gillahan and forward Nathalie Lewis. Lewis recorded a hat trick during the spring season.
  • Head Coach John Walker enters his 33rd season, alongside assistant coaches Savanah Anderson-Baer (fourth season), Ian Bridge (11th season) and Austen Parker (first season). Walker has a 379-208-67 record in his career and has coached all 32 seasons in Nebraska soccer history.

Scouting the Rams

  • Colorado State went 10-4-5 last season with a 4-2-4 mark in Mountain West play. CSU’s season came to an end with a loss to San Diego State in the Mountain West tournament.
  • The Huskers and Rams tied, 1-1, in an exhibition matchup in 2025.
  • Head Coach Keeley Hagen enters her sixth season at Colorado State and owns a 44-30-24 record both in her career and with the Rams.
