Tanner Fowler joined the Nebraska Athletic Department as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in July of 2022. Fowler previously worked at Nebraska for three years with the Husker baseball program as an intern and graduate assistant athletic trainer in 2015-17.
Fowler comes to Nebraska after spending the last three seasons as an assistant director of sports medicine at Santa Clara, where he served as the trainer for baseball while also assisting with various administrative duties in the sports medicine department.
Prior to Santa Clara, Fowler was an assistant athletic trainer at CSUN, working with the baseball, golf and volleyball teams. He also supervised graduate assistants and served as an ATEP Preceptor to students in the undergraduate athletic training program.
In his first stint at Nebraska, Fowler worked as an intern athletic trainer and graduate assistant athletic trainer for the Husker baseball program in 2015-17, including the 2017 Big Ten Championship season.
Fowler is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and is a NATA BOC Certified Athletic Trainer. He is also a Corrective Exercise Specialist and is certified in Blood Flow Restriction Rehabilitation and holds a certification through OnBase University.
A native of Bertrand, Neb., Fowler previously worked as an athletic trainer at Complete Physical Therapy. Fowler earned his bachelor's degree in athletic training from Nebraska in 2014 and his master's degree in higher education administration with a focus on sports administration from Nebraska in 2017. He and his wife, Neleigh, their daughter, Maela, and their dog Remington reside in Lincoln.
