2025-26 (Junior)
Desiree Buchert appeared in 57.5 games, including 22 individual appearances. She recorded a season-high score of 268 at the Colonial Lanes Classic where she averaged a team-high 240.5 over two games. Buchert finished a season best 30th at the Bulldog Classic rolling an average of 196.4. She finished the season with 4,218 pinfall and a 187.8 average over 22 games. Academically, Buchert earned recognition on the Academic All-Big Ten and CUSA Commissioner’s Honor Roll. In the community, she earned a prestigious Sam Foltz 27 Hero Leadership Award and claimed her third spot on the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
2024-25 (Sophomore)
Buchert competed in nine of the Huskers’ 11 tournaments, including the NCAA Championship in Las Vegas. Buchert saw action in 12 individual games, holding a 215 average. Buchert’s best finish of the season came at the Prairie View A&M Invite with a 13th-place finish and a season-high game of 250. Buchert succeeded academically as an NTCA All-Academic Scholar while adding Academic All-Big Ten honors. She also was named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in both the fall and spring semesters of 2024-25. She was also a member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team for the second consecutive season.
2023-24 (Freshman)
Buchert made her Husker debut by competing in five of nine regular-season tournaments. Her season was highlighted by claiming a spot on the Northeast Classic All-Tournament team after a fourth-place individual finish. Buchert ended the season with a 201.3 average over 21 games, including a season-best 264. Off the lanes, Buchert excelled academically earning spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in both the fall and spring semesters of 2023-24, while also being selected to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team for her contributions in the community.
Before Nebraska
A four-year bowling letterwinner, Buchert attended William Howard Taft High School and was named the 2020 Freshman of the Year. Buchert was an all-state bowler her entire high school career and was a member of the National Honor Society, as well as National Technical Honor Society at William Howard. In Buchert’s senior year (2023), she placed first in districts, second in regionals and fifth in state. During Buchert’s club bowling career, she was named Bowler of the Month and was inducted into the Texas USBC Hall of Honor. She was the Pepsi Queens Champion City champion.
Personal
The daughter of Charles and LaRonda Buchert, Desiree has an older sister, Alexis, who was also a member of the Nebraska bowling team. A criminology and criminal justice major with a minor in sociology, Desiree was an NTCA All-Academic Scholar and an Academic All-Big Ten choice in 2025. She is a five-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selection. She also claimed a prestigious Sam Foltz 27 Hero Leadership Award for her dedication to community service in 2026. She is a three-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
