Before Nebraska (Lincoln Southwest HS)
Buda was a standout linebacker for Lincoln Southwest High School, where he helped the Silver Hawks to the second round of the 2020 state playoffs. As a senior, Buda totaled 94 tackles with 14 tackles for loss, four sacks, two interceptions and a fumble recovery, according to MaxPreps. On offense, he caught seven passes for 91 yards and two touchdowns. For his efforts, Buda was named an honorable-mention all-state selection and a first-team all-city pick by the Lincoln Journal Star.
Personal
Grant was born on April 26, 2003, and is the son of Brian and Danielle Buda. Grant is majoring in biological sciences/nutrition and health sciences. He is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.
Grant's grandfather, Joe Buda, played for Nebraska in the 1960s and his great uncle, Sandy Buda, was the head football coach at UNO from 1978 to 1989.
