Jahmal Banks has played in every game with six starts this season. He ranks second on the team with 360 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns and is third with 27 receptions.

Banks caught six passes for 61 yards against UTEP, including a 21-yard touchdown with two seconds left in the first half. Banks had two catches against Colorado. He had a 13-yard reception against Northern Iowa. Banks set a career high with eight catches in his Big Ten debut against Illinois, finishing with 94 receiving yards. At Purdue, Banks led Nebraska with five catches, 82 receiving yards and one touchdown. Banks had a season-long 31-yard reception against Rutgers. He caught two passes for 33 yards at Indiana. Banks had two receptions totaling 31 yards at Ohio State. He had two more catches for 13 yards against UCLA.

Banks is wearing the No. 4 after he was one of 10 Huskers to win a team vote to wear a single-digit number.

Banks played in every game with 10 starts for Wake Forest in 2023 and finished the season with 59 receptions for a team-high 653 yards. Banks caught four touchdown passes to tie for the team lead and ranked fifth in the ACC in receptions per game. Banks had a season-high 108 receiving yards on six catches in the season opener against Elon. He added eight catches for 81 yards and a touchdown against Old Dominion and closed the season with seven catches for 90 yards and a touchdown against Syracuse. Overall, Banks had seven games with at least 50 receiving yards in 2023.

Banks earned honorable-mention All-ACC honors in 2022, when he helped the Demon Deacons to an 8-5 record. He played in all 13 games and had 42 catches for 636 yards and nine touchdowns. His nine TD catches tied for the sixth most in program history. Banks had a career-best game against No. 5 Clemson when he had six catches for a career-high 141 yards and two touchdowns.  He also had multiple TDs in wins over Liberty and Boston College and had seven receptions against the Eagles. Banks had the highest contested catch rate of any receiver in the ACC and his 58.6 percent ranked fifth among Power Five conference receivers.

Banks played in 14 games in 2021 as Wake Forest won the ACC Atlantic Division. He had five catches for 98 yards, including three receptions for 63 yards against Duke. Banks played in six games in his first year at Wake in 2020, and made his first career catch against Campbell.

A native of Washington, D.C., Banks starred at St. Frances Academy, helping the Panthers to a No. 4 national ranking according to USA Today. His school posted a 44-3 record during his four years, including an 11-1 mark in 2019. Banks was a two-time first-team all-conference selection and had 91 tackles and 36 tackles for loss, along with nine sacks. He earned team MVP honors and was also the MVP of the school’s basketball team.

Personal 
Jahmal is the son of Kristie Martin, and he was born on Oct. 2, 2001. His sister, Kyerra Martin, played volleyball at Bowie State. He completed his degree work at Wake Forest in communication and is taking graduate classes at Nebraska. Banks has participated in numerous outreach activities, including the NoFilter Service Trip to Panama in May.
