Jamal Rule has played in every game with one start this season. He leads Nebraska with 23 carries, 210 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. Entering the North Dakota game, Rule ranks fourth nationally in yards per carry (9.1), 11th in rushing touchdowns (3), 12th in total touchdowns (4th), 14th in scoring per game (12.0), 16th in rushing yards per game (105.0), 18th in total points scored (24), 19th in scrimmage yards per game (128.5), 20th in rushing yards (210) and 24th in scrimmage yards (257).
Rule had an impressive collegiate debut against Ohio, totaling 169 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns on only 17 touches. He rushed 15 times for 122 yards and two touchdowns while catching two passes for 47 yards and one score. His 122 rushing yards marked the first 100-yard rushing game by a Husker freshman running back in a season opener since 2004. Rule also became just the sixth Big Ten freshman since 1995 to have two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown in the same game. He was graded as the nation's No. 2 running back in Week 1 by PFF College. For his performance against Ohio, Rule was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
Rule started but played only the first half against Bowling Green. He had eight carries for 88 yards with a career-long 59-yard touchdown run.
Before Nebraska (Charlotte Christian HS)
Rule was a standout running back for Charlotte Christian School in North Carolina. He rushed for more than 2,500 yards in his final two seasons, averaging more than 160 rushing yards per game.
