  • Longest Field Goal on the Road (54 yards at Ohio State in 2024)

John Hohl has played in every game this season with six starts at place-kicker. He has made four field goals while going 13-of-14 on extra points. He also has five touchbacks on 17 kickoffs. Hohl tied a Nebraska record with a 54-yard field goal at Ohio State, tying for the longest field goal in an away game in school history.

Hohl had two touchbacks against UTEP while helping limit the Miners to an average of just 16.0 yards on three kickoff returns. Hohl kicked off twice against Colorado and made one tackle. He kicked off three times against Northern Iowa with one touchback, while the two returned kicks totaled only 10 yards. Hohl also attempted and made the first extra point of his career against the Panthers. Hohl started against Illinois and made a 21-yard field goal and all four of his extra-point tries. He also started at Purdue and made a career-high four PATs. He made two extra points against Rutgers and had two touchbacks on three kickoffs. Hohl made his lone extra point try at Indiana and kicked off twice.

At Ohio State, Hohl was 3-of-3 on field goals. He made a 39-yard field goal in the first quarter that was the longest kick of his career at the time. On the final play of the first half, Hohl connected on a career-long 54-yard field goal that tied the school record for the longest field goal in an opposing stadium. Hohl also added a 47-yard field goal in the third quarter. Against UCLA, Hohl made two extra points.

Hohl redshirted in his lone season at Iowa Western in 2023 before transferring to Nebraska. Ranked as the top transfer kicker at a Kohl’s Kicking showcase in the spring of 2024, Hohl chose to join the Huskers after also receiving interest from Coastal Carolina.

At Lincoln Southwest High School, Hohl saw action at both place-kicker and punter. In his senior season, Hohl made all three of his field goal attempts and was a perfect 18-of-18 on extra points.

John is the son of Erich and Rebecca Hohl and is a management major. John’s father, Erich, was a tight end at Nebraska in the early 1990s and was a senior on the Huskers’ 1994 national championship team. John’s brother, Jacob, was a punter at Nebraska in 2022 and 2023 after playing two seasons at Nebraska Wesleyan.
