Micah Mazzccua has played in six games this season. He started the first two games at right guard and also started at Indiana when Nebraska opened the game with six offensive linemen.
Before Nebraska (St. Frances Academy [Md.]/Baylor/Florida)
In his one season at Florida in 2023, Mazzccua started at right guard in 11 of 12 games and played a total of 743 snaps on the Gator offensive line. Mazzccua started the first three games of the season before missing a game, then was in the starting lineup for the final eight games. Mazzccua’s play helped Florida average 408.8 yards and 28.4 points per game against one of the nation’s most difficult schedules.
Mazzccua began his college career at Baylor where he played from 2020 to 2022. He played in 11 games and made 10 starts at guard for the Bears in 2022, when he graded out as the second-best guard in the Big 12 according to Pro Football Focus. His run-blocking grade from PFF was the best in the Big 12 and among the top 15 in the nation. Mazzccua’s powerful blocking helped the Bears average 32.2 points and 413.8 yards per game, including 182.4 rushing yards per contest.
Mazzccua saw action in nine games at Baylor as a redshirt freshman, playing for a Bears’ team that won the Big 12 Championship and played in the Sugar Bowl. Mazzccua did not play in his first season in 2020.
Mazzccua played high school football at St. Frances Academy in Baltimore. He helped his team to an 11-1 record in 2019 while playing a national schedule. He was ranked among the top 40 offensive guards in the nation and was selected for the Under Armour All-American Game.
Personal
Micah was born on Nov. 22, 2001, and he is the son of Maurice Sr. and Monica Mazzccua. Micah is majoring in child, youth and family studies. Micah’s older brother, Maurice Jr., is a senior running back for the Huskers.
