Before Nebraska (Seward HS/Nebraska-Kearney)
Ruth transferred to Nebraska after spending one season at the University of Nebraska-Kearney. He redshirted in his lone season as a Loper in 2022.
Ruth was a prep standout at Seward High School. He was an honorable-mention all-state pick as a senior, and he was selected to play in the 2022 Nebraska Shrine Bowl. As a junior according to MaxPreps, Ruth totaled nearly 100 tackles from his linebacker spot. He was a two-time all-district pick. Ruth was a three-sport star for the Bluejays, as he also played basketball and baseball, earning honorable-mention all-state accolades in baseball as a senior.
Personal
Trevor is the son of Jennifer and Royce Ruth, and he was born on Nov. 1, 2003. He is majoring in nutrition and health sciences.
His mother was a member of Nebraska-Kearney’s 1990 NAIA national championship softball team. Trevor’s two older brothers, Corbin and Connor Ruth, each played football at Nebraska. Trevor’s grandfather, John Makovicka, was a 12-time letterwinner with the Lopers and is a member of the UNK Hall of Fame. Trevor’s uncles, Jeff and Joel Makovicka, were both starting fullbacks for Nebraska in the 1990s. Jeff was a member of two national championship teams (1994, 1995) while Joel was a three-time national champion (1994, 1995, 1997).
